Christmas Book + Audio Favorites
Hey friends! It’s hard to believe that Christmas will be here in less than two weeks! This is one of my favorite seasons of the year—I love the lights, the music, the shopping, the memories, the church outreaches. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite books and audio resources that I have enjoyed during the Christmas season. Maybe they can become a part of your family’s Christmas traditions and memories. Disclaimer: Just because I recommend a resource does not mean that I agree with everything written therein or endorse everything the author has written. As always, read with discretion and compare everything to God’s word.…

Great is His Faithfulness!
Hello, friends! Today’s post is a bit of a combination—a special Thanksgiving devotional. This time of year, I love to count the many blessings God has given me, and to think about the countless ways that He’s been so good to me. I’d like to share a few specific testimonies of His faithfulness with you, and my prayer is that these testimonies will inspire you to see His hand of love and mercy in your life as well! One year of blogging. Last year, I started out on a new adventure. I’d never done anything like it before, and had absolutely no clue how to create a website! The first…

Enough for Me
Hello friends! This poem, written by one of my favorite hymnwriters, is such a blessing to me that I just had to share it with you! I’m sure you’re familiar with a number of hymns by Frances Ridley Havergal, but chances are you’ve never seen this one. So beautifully articulated, may this poem be the cry of our hearts as we thirst after Christ and are satisfied in Him. I am so weak, dear Lord, I cannot stand One moment without Thee; But oh, the tenderness of Thine enfolding And oh, the faithfulness of Thine upholding, And oh, the strength of Thy right hand. That strength is enough for me!…

An Anchored Heart
When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:4). An overwhelmed heart…something I’m sure we all know! That one little part of us can carry such a whirlwind of emotions! Joy, sorrow, pain, fear, hope, anxiety, disappointment, peace, discouragement; the list could go on. The question is, what do we do with an overwhelmed heart? Do we have to live our lives controlled by our tumultuous emotions? Or can we walk in victory in spite of our changeful feelings? These days, it’s often considered a virtuous thing to expose our every emotion. The world’s mantra is “follow your heart.” However, this is…

No Condemnation
This poem is based on John 8:2-11 and inspired by a sermon at my church several years ago. She stood guilty and trembling before Him that day, Condemned and undone, with nothing to say. Thrown on her knees in the dust before Christ, She knew that justice demanded her life. She looked up and saw the look on His face, Though Justice pursued her, she knelt before Grace. And as her accusers came circling around, Jesus stooped over and wrote on the ground. One by one, all the men who surrounded her left, Of their self-righteousness fully bereft. "Where are thine accusers?" He questioned her then, "Hath no man condemned…

His Goodness
“And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth (Exodus 34:6).” We serve a good God. In His character, and in His ways, He is always good. This truth comforts us as we see the evil in this world; sustains us in times of trouble, and stirs gratitude in our hearts as we observe His goodness toward us in things little and great. And, it gives us hope as we anticipate the day when He will restore all things to their state at creation—when everything He made will again be very good. His Character is…
