The Locked Door

Hello to all my readers! It’s been awhile since we had a guest writer, so today I’m excited to share this poem, written by a dear friend. We’ve long enjoyed exchanging poems, just as we enjoy many conversations encouraging each other in the Lord. Her poem was a blessing to me when I read it; I will hope it will be for you as well. And a big thank you for sharing, Annabelle! šŸ’œ

When in a circumstance thatā€™s hard,
Iā€™m tempted to put forth my hand
And tamper with a door thatā€™s barred
That seems to lead to Promise Land.

And if I force the door thatā€™s locked,
When God Himself has shut that door,
Iā€™ll find my forward passage blocked,
	And be unhappy as before.

But if I see the obstacle
As surely being from Godā€™s hand,
Then God can work a miracle
Much greater than what I had planned!

When I must wait and let God move,
And canā€™t go forward on my own,
ā€™Tis then I really feel His loveā€”
And then His glory can be shown!

With bated breath, I watch the door
	Of opportunity swing wide;
And with such joy as neā€™er before,
I praise the Lord and step inside.

ā€œNow unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amenā€ (Ephesians 3:20, 21).

ā€œNevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be knownā€¦They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soulā€ (Psalm 106:8, 13-15).

ā€œThe LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peaceā€ (Exodus 14:14).
