God’s Own Time

And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him (Isaiah 30:18).

God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time,
Though to human eyes and viewpoint it may seem that He's behind,
Yet to waiting there's a purpose that our eyes can't always see,
And the reason that He tarries may be hid from you and me.

God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time,
And His ways are far beyond the ken of mortal human mind.
Often tempted to impatience, yet in waiting we can grow,
There is wisdom to be garnered in those silent times and slow.

God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time,
Think not then that He's unheeding or unto your prayers unkind,
For He often waits until we seek alone His perfect will,
To outpour His treasures precious, and our empty hands to fill.

God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time,
Yea, our timing oft is foolish; His is wisdom that's divine.
For He sees the greater picture from beginning to the end,
And He asks us now to trust Him as all-knowing Guide and Friend.

God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time,
Dreams come true can't bring fulfilment; knowing Christ is joy sublime!
If He waiteth to be gracious, though omnipotent and free,
Think you not that it befits for us to wait as patiently?

This poem is based on a comment my pastor made as he preached one Sunday: “God is never in a hurry, but He’s always on time.” Our part is to be faithful where He’s put us as we wait on Him.

It reminds me of these verese from Lamentations that have meant so much to me this past year!😁

“The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.”
      Lamentations 3:24-26
