Inspiration for Your Week #8

Good morning, friends! I’m excited because this week my correspondence Bible classes start. I so enjoyed learning more from God’s word last semester, and I’m happy to be taking the classes full-time this spring. In preparation for one of the classes, I was reading 2 Corinthians 1 and I found a sweet reminder from the Lord that He is completely trustworthy.

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us (1 Corinthians 1:19-20).

As humans, our word is not fully reliable. We change our minds. We don’t always say what we mean. We may make promises and then not keep them. We say “yea” and “nay”, contradicting ourselves much to the confusion of others. But, we never have to worry about that with Christ. He always speaks truth. His word is completely trustworthy. We can bank the salvation of our souls, our eternal destination upon it. His promises are always yea and Amen. He will fulfil them. No doubt about it–He always keeps His promises!

Our response should be to trust Him completely and fully; to cling to Him. Because in a world of confusion, broken promises, and heartaches, He is faithful. When others fail and disappoint us, He will prove Himself to be all He has promised.

Every joy or trial falleth from above, traced upon our dial by the Son of love. We may trust Him fully, all for us to do; they who trust Him wholly, find Him wholly true. Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blessed, finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.”–Frances Ridley Havergal

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Trusting Jesus,

Naomi

When you mentioned we should cling to Jesus it reminded me of Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “All hail.” And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

We should indeed cling to Jesus!

Thank you for sharing that verse–I never thought of it in that context before. It is a beautiful picture of clinging to Jesus!
