Inspiration for Your Week #3
Hello, my friends! The past week was super busy, but also wonderful! The mall singing and concert went really well. It was so thrilling to get to sing about the birth and coming reign of our Savior in a public place. This week has a slightly slower pace, and of course, we are looking forward to Christmas!
This morning when I opened my Bible, I read Deuteronomy 32:4, “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” Isn’t it wonderful that the work of our God is perfect? From creation to the finished work of Calvary for our salvation, His work, His timing, His way, is perfect. And it is also so in the details of our life. What a blessing it is to dwell on the character of our God. He is perfect in judgment, truth, righteousness, justice, love, mercy, goodness, grace, and so much more! His very perfection is what makes Him God.
As we approach Christmas, I’ve been thinking of how “the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14).” It’s truly incredible and beautiful that God became a man. He suffered with us and for us. And He is God with us–Emmanuel. Although no human would ever have come up with such a plan, the birth of God’s Son was so perfect.
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect (Psalm 18:30-32). These verses are some of my favorites. It’s so comforting to know that His way is perfect–even if the way He’s planned for my life involves things I wouldn’t choose. I can trust Him to give me strength to walk His way. He promised to make my way perfect.
Following that thought, here is this week’s quote: “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. Exodus 14:13. Often God seems to place His children in positions of profound difficulty–leading them into a wedge from which there is no escape; contriving a situation which no human judgment would have permitted, had it been previously consulted. The very cloud conducts them thither. You may be thus involved at this very hour. It does seem perplexing and very serious to the last degree, but it is perfectly right. The issue will more than justify Him who has brought you hither. It is a platform for the display of His almighty grace and power (emphasis mine). He will not only deliver you, but in doing so He will give you a lesson that you will never forget; and to which, in many a psalm and song in after days, you will revert. You will never be able to thank God enough for having done just as He has.–F.B. Meyer, Thoughts for the Quiet Hour.
I’ve found this so true in my own life! Isobel Kuhn talks about platforms in her book, In the Arena, comparing the difficult situations of this life to a platform on which God displays His “almighty grace and power” to us, a watching world, and a watching spiritual realm. Our part is to trust Him and lean on His sufficiency to respond correctly. Which is something I’m still learning! 😊
I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas as you meditate on our beautiful Savior, Jesus Christ.
With much love,
Naomi
