Inspiration for Your Week #2

Hello everyone! You are probably wondering why this post is late! We had quite the windstorm sweep through the area on Saturday evening. There were at least 31,000 in our county without power (including us until 7 a.m. Sunday!), and our internet went out as well. Being without electricity comes with some great object lessons…maybe you’ll hear some of those in future posts! 😊 I know that we were mildly affected compared to some other parts of the country.

This week is a busy one for our family. I have music lessons to take and teach, the last test of this semester’s Bible correspondence course (delayed because of no internet), and our church is putting on a Christmas concert. We hope to sing at a local mall on Thursday and then do the full concert on Friday evening! I’m so excited because we were not able to do this last year. Please pray that many will hear the Gospel and that those hearts will be touched for Christ!

Yesterday we were able to attend a local symphonic orchestra concert. It was so enjoyable! Whenever we are able to watch a full orchestra play, especially those incredible classical pieces, I leave in awe of how God created our bodies. When I think about what has to go on in someone’s brain, nerves, and muscles to be able to play (let alone write!) such music, I truly have to acknowledge that we are fearfully and wonderfully made!

Have you ever listened to a sermon that just seemed to be straight from God to you? On Sunday, my pastor preached a sermon on how God is in the little things. It was such a blessing. Lately, I have been desiring and praying to do more for the Lord. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, but yesterday, the Lord reminded me to live my whole life for Him. He can use the little things. He can be glorified in the little things. In fact, as my pastor pointed out, there is nothing little with our big God! He delights in taking what is little, insignificant, and weak and doing something mighty with it.

Too often, we separate our lives into the spiritual and the secular. But God never put that division in our lives. We can worship and serve Him every moment. No part of our lives is separate from His loving presence—even the mundane! So, this week’s quote follows through on that thought:

“We realized we could serve God with the very little we had. His blessings do not depend upon the size or quantity of what we have but upon the fact that we bring them to Him.”—Richard Wurmbrand, The Overcomers.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).”

Will you join me in seeking to see God in the mundane and the little? Even obscure, humble lives, such as you and I live, He can use for His eternal glory! What a thrilling thing that makes life.

Blessings to you,

Naomi

    Hi my friend!
We also lost our power for 10 hours!!
With the storms, winds & tornados around us….. we had one touch down just on the outskirts of us! Praise the lord it didn’t hit any of the houses around us!
Ohhh, and last monday….. we were going to drop gideon off at work and from there go do our errands…..we left a little of 6 am and just a few miles down the road from our house it started pouring rain (in sleets), go super windy the guy in front of us pulled over & so did we ….. we got up a litter further…. and there was big trees down in the road blocking us….. all the sudden I was like listen do you hear that??? Mom also heard what I could hear…. it was like a whistle sound …. then….. we saw circling/swirling wind in front of us….later we found out from people talking about it….. (the area & time of it) ….. we were literally feet in front of a tornado!
Thanks so much for your post!
    I enjoy them very much!
