A Soul-winning Prayer
Open my eyes, Lord, and give me Your heart Towards those around me; the lost in their sin, May all that would hinder Your shining depart, May they see Jesus, dwelling within. Help me to listen and help me to wait, Help me to see a soul You died to save, Help me to tell them before it’s too late, Fill me with hope that is steadfast and brave. Help me to focus, and teach me to pray— Help me to see someone precious to You, Time is now hastening, slipping away, Give me the love that must mingle with truth. Lord, hear this prayer that I earnestly bring, Give…

Chocolate Eclair Cake
Hey there everyone! This is one of our favorite desserts to make for company. It’s so easy, it’s delicious, and it’s no-bake (which makes it great for summer!). This cake does need to set in the refrigerator for awhile, though, so be sure to make it the night before you plan to serve it. Enjoy! 2-3 sleeves graham crackers 2 boxes vanilla pudding 2 c. milk 1 tub whipped topping 1 can chocolate frosting (you could make your own ganache topping instead, if desired) In a large bowl, combine milk, whipped topping, and pudding mixes. Whisk until smooth. Place one layer of graham crackers in a 9″x13″ pan. Pour half…

His Faithfulness
Hi there, friends! As believers, we recognize the need for faith. We realize that “without faith, it is impossible to please Him (Heb. 11:6).” We’re aware that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).” But have you ever thought about the fact that our faith would be utterly vain and meaningless if it were not for the faithfulness of the One we trust? The object of faith determines its value. I’ve seen pictures of a single log bridge over a jungle canyon. I might declare that I have complete faith in that log, but if the log is rotten, then my confidence does me…

The Glorious Gospel: Quotes on Christ’s Work
Hello, my friends! As we approach Easter or Resurrection Sunday, it’s the perfect time to meditate on the glorious truths of the Gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:3 defines the Gospel as the “death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.” We know that it is only His work that can save us, not anything we’ve done. Today, I’d like to share some Scripture and favorite quotes about Christ’s saving work. “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him;…

What Are You Careful About? Part 2
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). What should you do when worry presses down on you, when your heart is tempted to become “careful?” In the previous post, we talked about carefulness, and how God commands us to be careful for nothing but to pray in everything! In today’s post, I’d like to delve a bit deeper into this topic of prayer and supplication. By Prayer and Supplication We know the promise following this verse—however, God gave that promise after He also gave a command. He commands us to, “by prayer and…

Book Review: Ten Fingers for God
Hi everyone! It’s been awhile since I have reviewed any books here on the blog, and I just finished a 5-star one. It checked almost all my “great book” boxes: a biography, missions, medicine, humor, and even a little WWII history. Dorothy Clarke Wilson was an amazing writer! In this book, you’ll follow Dr. Paul Brand on his journey from growing up in India to medical student in London during the blitz of World War II (in fact, I really enjoyed this fascinating piece of WWII history), to world-renowned leprosy rehab expert. The book is filled with so much information about the history of leprosy treatment, yet it’s not presented…

Hymn History: Just As I Am
1822, Brighton, England: The glow of candlelight shone on the silver and cut glass in the Elliott dining room. Over the clink of forks and knives and the murmur of friendly chatter, the visiting preacher addressed a question to Charlotte. “Miss Elliott, if I may be so bold to ask—are you at peace with God?” Stunned by the personal inquiry, Charlotte Elliott stared at Ceasar Malan. Abruptly, she snapped, “The state of my soul is none of your business, Mr. Malan!” A hush fell over the table as she rose and stalked from the room. But Malan’s kind, direct question haunted the young woman. At last, hesitatingly, she sought the…

What Are You Careful About? Part 1
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). As I’ve studied through the book of Philippians, I’ve been blessed countless times by the rich but oh-so practical truth contained in that book! As someone who tends to worry, the Lord has been lovingly, tenderly teaching me to trust Him. This is a lesson that I doubt I’ll ever be through learning till heaven, 😊but I’ve learned that there is victory over crippling fear! God is so good to remind me that He has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, and…

God’s Own Time
And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him (Isaiah 30:18). God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time, Though to human eyes and viewpoint it may seem that He's behind, Yet to waiting there's a purpose that our eyes can't always see, And the reason that He tarries may be hid from you and me. God is never in a hurry, but He's always right on time, And His ways are far…
