    Banana Berry Smoothie

Yay for summer! This smoothie is delicious, filling, and so refreshing on a hot day! ‘Tis the season for picking berries; there’s just something so “summery” about getting out in the berry patch! Enjoy this smoothie for breakfast or as a power snack in the afternoon. It’s also healthy—the only “added” sugar is in the orange juice, which you can totally skip if you’d like (just add some water for extra liquid). If you’ve never used kefir before, it’s a natural, probiotic drink that should be available at your local grocery store. Serves 2. 2 bananas, sliced—preferably fresh, but you can use frozen 1 c. blackberries—fresh or frozen 1/2 c.…

    Take My Will

“Take my will and make it Thine, it shall be no longer mine.” I’ve sung those words dozens of times, but every so often, the Lord will allow or send a situation into my life that makes me take a step back and say, “Do I really mean that?” Surrendering our will to God can be a difficult thing. We may hold back out of fear that His will is different than ours; that giving up to Him may involve us in suffering or adversity. Yet, I believe that yielding our will to Him is the bedrock of all surrender. Our will is part of us, and it involves the…

Great Books for Christian Young Women

Hello friends! For today’s post, I’d like to share with you some book recommendations. As Christian young ladies, we want to live our lives God’s way, and He has a lot to say in His Word about His design and plan for us. At the same time, we’re frequently bombarded with the world’s view of womanhood. And that is completely different from what God says! I’ve often found encouragement by reading books written by Christian women who believe God’s word, who study and proclaim His truth. It can also be so inspiring to read the biographies of women who chose to follow God with all their hearts instead of living…

    The Locked Door

Hello to all my readers! It’s been awhile since we had a guest writer, so today I’m excited to share this poem, written by a dear friend. We’ve long enjoyed exchanging poems, just as we enjoy many conversations encouraging each other in the Lord. Her poem was a blessing to me when I read it; I will hope it will be for you as well. And a big thank you for sharing, Annabelle! 💜 When in a circumstance that’s hard, I’m tempted to put forth my hand And tamper with a door that’s barred That seems to lead to Promise Land. And if I force the door that’s locked, When…

    His Grace

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Full of grace—what an amazing and true description of our Savior! Grace is a word we hear often. It appears frequently throughout Scripture. It’s repeated in the words of our hymns. Rarely does someone present the Gospel without mentioning grace. Yet what exactly is grace? How is our Savior gracious and how has He manifested this grace to us? Grace is “the free and unmerited love and favor of God; the spring and source of all the benefits…

    Spring Update and Favorites

Hello my friends! May has been absolutely gorgeous here—summer came early this year, which is fine with me! This month makes me realize how grateful I am for God’s creation of color. The rich green of the grass and trees, white lilacs (my favorite), the vibrant blue sky; our God loves beauty and that is so evident in His creation. We’re looking forward to a number of camping trips this summer—I’m planning to share some photos and stories in each month’s favorites and update! This past week was our church’s missions conference. The preaching was so good, the fellowship is always fun, and it was a blessing to hear from…

    Follow After Him

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:12-14). Do you ever wonder what God’s will for your life is? Do you ever struggle with feeling purposeless? Sometimes in the busyness and distraction of our life, it can be easy to…
