The Lost Art of Sewing
Hey friends! I’m excited to bring you the first post in our new series—and it’s a guest post too! I asked a friend who is really good at sewing to share some tips. I had to laugh when I read that about the seam-ripper (that is so me! π). While I honestly am not skilled in this area (I have a post coming up where I share some of my favorite places to find modest clothes), I do have renewed ambitions to try sewing something simple, maybe a new cushion for my rocking chair. Sewing is a fading art, but there’s a lot of value in it. It’s a great…

Summer Review and Favorites
Hello friends! Wow, what a summer! Jam-packed with activity and good memories. I enjoyed lovely vacation time, read some great books, and in spite of the heat, enjoyed trying several new recipes. As a little disclaimer before you read on, I’m currently not affiliated with any company, so all the recommendations/links below are solely from my desire to get good resources into your hands. π Summertime Activities Our first trip was to Green Lakes State Park, south of Syracuse, NY. It’s so beautiful there, and yes, the glacial lakes are actually green! The water is a clear aqua, like you see in pictures of the Caribbean. (Unfortunately, the green color…

Spring Update and Favorites
Hello my friends! May has been absolutely gorgeous here—summer came early this year, which is fine with me! This month makes me realize how grateful I am for God’s creation of color. The rich green of the grass and trees, white lilacs (my favorite), the vibrant blue sky; our God loves beauty and that is so evident in His creation. We’re looking forward to a number of camping trips this summer—I’m planning to share some photos and stories in each month’s favorites and update! This past week was our church’s missions conference. The preaching was so good, the fellowship is always fun, and it was a blessing to hear from…

2021 Review and Favorites
Hi there everyone! I thought it might be fun to review my year a little and to share with you some of my favorites from 2021…maybe you would enjoy some of them too! Favorites This year, the Lord gave me Jeremiah 29:11 as my special verse for the year. Of course, I had no idea how meaningful this verse would be for me this year, but in the midst of uncertainty, and at times, confusion about God’s working, it has reminded me again and again to trust in Him! He has a perfect plan for my life. Verses 12-13 have reminded me to seek Him with my whole heart. My…

Christmas Meditations
Hello to all of my readers! Today I am so excited to be able to introduce a guest writer–the very first on Upheld by His Grace. This guest writer is a wife, mama, one of my very best friends, and…my older sister! She wrote these thoughts several years ago while expecting her first little one. Thank you so much for sharing, Emily! This year at Christmas, as I wait for the birth of my first child, only a few weeks away, the familiar story of Jesusβ birth takes on new meaning to me. I feel a new understanding and appreciation for Mary, the woman God chose to be the vessel…
