Feelings or Faith

When you feel…

Alone or forsaken—remember that Jesus is always with you. Hebrews 13:5, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Afraid—remember that Jesus tells you to fear not, because He is by your side. Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Discouraged—remember that with God, all things are possible. Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Confused—remember that Jesus has promised to be your light. Isaiah 50:10, “Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.”

Uncertain which way to go—remember that God has promised to guide you. Psalm 48:14, “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.”

Sinful—remember that the blood of Jesus Christ is sufficient to cleanse you from all your sin. 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Sad and heartbroken—remember that God has promised to be with you and comfort you. Psalm 34:18, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

Inadequate—remember that you are complete in Christ, and that He is all in all. Colossians 2:10, “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”

Inferior—remember that you are accepted in the Beloved, and a precious daughter of the King! Ephesians 1:6, “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

Self-pity—remember that you are blessed because of Jesus. Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:”

Tempted—remember that Jesus was tempted too and is able to help you. Hebrews 4:14-16, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Helpless—remember that Jesus is our Helper! Hebrews 13:6, “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Like giving up—remember that Jesus is worthy of all we have to give Him. Hebrews 12:1-3, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

Dear friend, may our Savior strengthen you as you walk by faith and not by sight!
