Christmas Music Favorites
Hi all! This is the time of year when we think about how Jesus came to earth as a baby. We also think about why He came–so that we could be redeemed and forgiven! One thing that can help us to focus on Him in this season is godly music about His coming. I’d like to share three of my favorite music cd’s to enjoy:
Redemption Dawns by Anna Ferraro. You’ll enjoy this lovely piano cd with beautiful arrangements of hymns such as “Of the Father’s Love Begotten” and “O Holy Night”, arranged and played by talented musician Anna Ferraro. The selection of songs is skillfully designed to help you think about the “dawn of redeeming grace.”
Hope of Christmas by the Mieczkowski family. This cd is a nice mixture of lovely instrumental arrangements and a couple of vocal solos. The producers chose beautiful hymns with thought-provoking lyrics on the coming of Jesus.
Handel’s Messiah. I couldn’t get it linked here, but the version we own is the complete Messiah on two cds, performed by the London Philharmonic orchestra. You can find it on Amazon. This beautiful work by George Frederick Handel is some of the most inspirational music you will ever listen to. You’ll find your heart lifted up in worship and praise as you go on a Scriptural journey from the prophecies of Christ’s first coming all the way to Revelation and His soon return.
One of my favorite things about the beautiful hymns of this season is that not only do they remind us of Jesus’ love in coming to earth to die for us, but they also remind us that He is coming again! Many of these hymns talk of a future day where He will reign as King and “in His name all oppression shall cease.” Each year brings us closer to the day when He will return and take us to dwell with Him eternally!
Rejoicing in Him,
Naomi
